Standards
1. A private faith based
institution which complies with the FCPC standards which exceed the
minimum standards of the state of Florida.
2. Graduation
from high school or attainment of a high school equivalency diploma
should normally be a prerequisite to formal entrance to
an “Associate” or “Bachelor” of
“Arts” or “Science” degree program, and any
deviation from that requirement must be justified by the college.
3.The
following titles of degrees issued by a private faith based institution
must include some liberal arts/general education courses and a
religious modifier which must be placed on the title line of the
degree: Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, Bachelor of Arts,
Bachelor of Science, Master of Arts, Master of Science, and Doctor of
Philosophy.
4. The use of the
degree titles “Associates of Bible”, “Bachelors
of Theology”, “Masters of Pastoral Studies” or
“Doctor of Biblical Studies” degrees without the
liberal arts/general education requirements is acceptable.
5. One semester credit
hour of study is 15 academic hours or its equivalent. One quarter
credit hour of study is 10 academic hours or its equivalent.
6. The minimum
semester/quarter credit hours required for degrees are:
A. Associate degree,
60 semester/90 quarter hours.
B. Bachelor degree, 120
semester/180 quarter hours.
C. Master degree, 30
semester/36 quarter hours beyond the bachelor degree. A research
thesis, project or additional 6 semester/9 quarter hours are required
for “Master of Arts” or “Master of Science”
degree.
D. Doctor degree, 60
semester/90 quarter hours beyond the bachelor degree and requires
completion of a master degree before admission to, or before completion
of, the doctor degree. The degree Doctor of Philosophy, usually
abbreviated Ph.D., requires a stringent research component and a
dissertation.
E. M. Min. (Master of
Ministry) and D. Min. (Doctor of Ministry) degrees do not require any
thesis or dissertation respectively.
F. Nondegree diploma or
certificate programs are not required to meet the criteria in 2, 3, 4,
5 and 6 A. B. C. D. E. above.
7.
The following applies to student records and we strongly recommend you
put it in your student handbook, catalog, or administrative bulletin:
A
student's record is considered confidential. Only directory
information may be released by the institution without the consent of
the student. Directory information includes the following:
student's name, address, telephone number, birthplace and date,
field of study, participation in officially recognized activities and
sports, dates of attendance, degrees and awards received, and the most
recent previous educational institution attended. Portions of
directory information may be withheld from a third party at the written
request of the student. The administration maintains a permanent
record on any student who has attended (insert name of your college).
The student record currently includes the following:
student's name, student number (if any), address, birthplace and
date, sex, admission classification, credits transferred, all courses
taken at (insert name of your college) with credit hours,
grades, and grade point averages, academic probation, academic
suspension, academic dismissal, major field of study, degrees earned,
and dates of graduation. Transcripts of student's record are
released only on the student's written authorization.
8.
To have a maximum limit of 25% for work life
experience credits required for a degree awarded as validated and
confirmed by qualified faculty or educational agency that performs
such evaluations.
9. ADVERTISING
AND ACCREDITATION
All advertising regardless of medium used will follow truth in
packaging guideline and shall indicate by disclaimer if accrediting
body listed in advertisement is not recognized by the United States
Department of Education. Disclaimer: (insert name of your college) is
accredited by ACI which is not recognized by the United States
Department of Education(USDOE).
10. CIVIL
OBEDIENCE
The FCPC member private faith based institutions agree to operate
in conjunction with all reasonable, logical, prudent and
constitutionally valid laws of local, state and national governments
dealing with matters of health. fire, safety and fraud (civil and
criminal).
11. TRUTH
IN PACKAGING
The FCPC member private faith based institutions agree to
practice truth in packaging in all promotions, whether by
electronic media, or in written form, or in oral presentations used to
attract students, or for any other purpose.
12. SWORN
or AFFIRMED AFFIDAVIT
All documentation on FCPC
105, FCPC 110, FCPC 115, FCPC 120 and FCPC 125 forms is
submitted under the sworn or affirmed affidavit which applies to all
the member private faith based institution submissions.
